Vijayawada: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall of around 162 mm on Tuesday due to the impact of Cyclone Montha.

It is expected to make landfall between Kakinada and Machilipatnam later tonight or early Wednesday morning, bringing winds up to 110 km/h.
